High Point Regional Earns High Marks for Patient Safety

4/12/2017

New Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S., were announced today by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. High Point Regional was one of 823 hospitals to receive an “A”, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition demonstrating our commitment to quality and patient safety,” said Ernie Bovio, High Point Regional CEO & President.  “We are proud of the work our team provides each and every day, and we are pleased that our patients can rest assured knowing the quality of our care has been thoroughly evaluated and found to be among the best in the country,”

The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization that strives to promote safety, quality and affordability of health care in the U.S. by promoting transparency. The Hospital Safety Score uses a wide range of evidence-based measures related to patient safety to calculate a numerical score for more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals. The numerical safety score is then converted into a letter grade (A, B, C, D or F) designed to give the public free and unbiased information they can use to protect themselves and their families. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,” says The Leapfrog Group President and CEO Leah Binder. “That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’ Safety Grade.”
