Caring and Coping with Alzheimer’s

HIGH POINT, NC — Did you know as many as 5.1 million Americans may have Alzheimer's disease? The incidence of the disease is rising in line with the aging population. Although Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging, the risk of developing the illness rises with advanced age.

So what exactly is Alzheimer’s and how is it different from dementia? What are the symptoms and what are the treatments? What advances are being made?

While there is no current cure for Alzheimer’s, there are drug and non-drug therapies that can assist with patient function.  Researchers are looking for new treatments that may alter the course of the disease and improve the quality of life of those with it.

Join Dr. Keith Miller with UNC Regional Physicians Neuroscience Center as he presents information on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
